Special Projects
@overheard_workplace Instagram account
November 5, 2018 - December 7, 2018
Led by me and assisted by Jenna Mintz, Katie Angel and Hao Xiong, we created an Instagram account featuring real microaggressions people submitted to us to create awareness for this common workplace issue. I curated the feed to resemble the Overheard LA Instagram account to make a statement: Overheard LA features what Los Angelenos hear that makes them laugh or "hate" where they live because of how ridiculous conversations can be. But Overheard Workplace is about what people hear that make them cringe and actually hate where they work because of how inappropriate conversations can be. We also conducted research on tips and tricks to combat microaggressions and posted them alongside the submissions, so our followers could have viable resources and a source for empathy in their harmful workplace environments.
#BlackHiSCtory Twitter thread
February 1, 2018 - February 28, 2018
Led by Drew Schwendiman and assisted by JT Arowosaye, Judith Nwandu and me, we created a Twitter thread with the unique #BlackHiSCtory tag dedicated to honoring distinguishable Black alumni from the University of Southern California nearly every day of February. We researched and crafted tweets for each person; found images and created labels with the person's name, degree and graduation date; and developed each story as part of a continuous thread. This project garnered record engagement statistics for Annenberg Media's Twitter account, with special consideration to the tweet dedicated to Ryan Coogler at the time of his Black Panther film premiere that month. Shortly before his passing, John Singleton thanked me for being honored in the #BlackHiSCtory project.
